SERGEJ CETKOVIC

His music career began when he was merely seven years old. Sergej was under a strong influence of his brother when he was a child, and it was a fortunate coincidence that his brother's musical tastes were very similar to Sergej's actual music preferences. His first engagement was with the 'youngest Montenigrin band', Vatrena srca (Hearts on Fire) which played on marathon parties, public manifestations and the like. Sergej played the keyboard and sang backing vocals until the band finally dissolved, after which he joined Amfiteatar (The Amphiteatre). It was not until his second band collapsed that he began to pursue a solo career. He debuted with the song Bila si ruza (You Were a Rose) on the festival of Suncane skale in 1998.

In December 2000, soon after the festival in Budva where he presented his song Sati, dani, godine (Hours, Days & Years), Sergej released his first album Kristina (Christine). The album was published by the record company from Podgorica HI-FI Centre, which sold the rights to the album to Goraton.

Reissue of the album with a new cover design was followed by an improved strategic and marketing plan which greatly helped its promotion. Sergej's presence in the media had significantly increased and the songs from the album were frequently played on the radio and TV channels. Songs Zaustavicu vrijeme (I'll Stop the Time), Sati, dani, godine (Hours, Days & Years), Grad (City), and Probudi me (Wake Me Up) were also made into videos. After three years of intense preparations, in December 2002 Goraton released Sergej's new album Budi mi voda (Be My Water) with twelve new songs, including Nikad (Never) presented on the festival of Suncane skale earlier that year.

Songs Budi mi voda (Be My Water), Ostacu sam (I Will Stay Alone), and Postojim i ja (I Also Exist) were made into videos.

Sergej was known for his fondness for festivals and was often referred to as a 'ballad singer' by the media. In 2003 he presented his new song Postojim i ja (I Also Exist) on the festival in Budva. The song made it a big hit and was awarded the prize for best arrangements. The year 2004 was marked by the song Ne mogu da ti oprostim (I Can't Forgive You) which was one of the candidates for the Eurovision song contest. The same year Sergej presented his song Ljubavi prokleta (You Cursed Love) on the festival Pjesma Mediterana (the Song of the Mediterranean) in Budva. In 2005 Goraton released the Best of compilation album featuring most popular songs from Sergej's first two albums. The song Pogledi u tami (Glances in the Dark) announced his third multimedia CD Kad ti zatreba (When You Need It) featuring ten new songs. Sergej is currently having live performances in the region.
